Lens Review: Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5 – 5.6 G ED VR
The Highest Caliber High Power Super Zoom Longest Focal Length DX- Format Lens:
This telephoto lens has the longest focal range and awe worthy 16.7 ultra-high ratio zoom range. The quality that sets this high power DX format 18-300mm f/3.5- 5.6 G ED VR lens apart is its relatively compact construction and consequently light weight design conception. This lens covers a focal range from 18mm (for wide-angle shoots) to 300mm (for super-telephoto shooting) with the FX/35mm format equivalent focal range being 27mm to 450mm.

As per the lens review, while shooting at 300mm (telephoto purpose) the large aperture (f/5.6) of the lens makes it possible for the user to shoot at a fast shutter speed and shallow depth-of-field. The NIKKOR 18-300mm VR lens is suitable for travel photography when you need to take still photographs of moving objects but can also be used otherwise for general-purpose photography such as shooting portraits, landscapes, faraway objects and so on and so forth. Besides this, the lens proves very efficient for shooting HD videos because of its praiseworthy ability to handle wide establishing, medium close-up as well as extreme telephoto sequence shots. The lens is armed with Nikon’s Second Generation Vibration Reduction Technology (VR II) that stabilizes image and provides four stops faster shutter speed. This, among many other qualities, makes it the definite choice of photographers who want to capture everything, whether wildlife; family adventure trips or landscapes.

Now, let us review the overall construction of the lens. As required, the lens is assembled with 19 optical elements in 14 groups. It has 3 ED or Extra-low Dispersion Glass elements to fight color aberration at the widest aperture settings. In addition to that, it also has 3 aspherical lens elements that effectively eliminate these aberrations at wide aperture settings. It has 9 rounded blade diaphragm that enables it to naturally separate subject from the background. Another brilliant feature of this AF-S DX NIKKOR Lens is its zoom lock. This dedicated lock keeps the lens barrel secured at its minimum length and prevents lens sliding during transportation. Lens review suggests that the lens is also very suitable for capturing close-ups with high details owing to its 1.48 feet minimum focusing distance at 300mm and 1:3.2x maximum reproduction ratio.
The SRP (Suggested Retail Price) of this lens is $ 999.95 and it will be available by the end of June 2012.
