Wide-Angle, Fast Aperture Now in your Grasp! With the Superior Quality NIKKOR Imaging Technology
The new NIKKOR 28mm fixed focal length lens is a fresh arrival that belongs to the very famous family of FX- format f/1.8 prime lenses. This wide-angle lens is multi-purpose, crafted and engineered to outright perfection for professionals and newbies, and armed with Nano Crystal Coating. The NIKKOR 28mm lens competes high pixel-count DSLRs. Nano Crystal Coating reduces ghosting and internal flare across a wide range of wavelengths for remarkable image clarity producing brilliant hi-res images and videos even in quite low-illumination circumstances. The lens is suited to photograph landscapes, groups, travel scenes, interior spaces, as well as for photojournalism. The lens enables you to focus as close as 10.2” and as far as infinity, giving crisp and high contrast images and HD videos.

The NIKKOR 28mm lens has Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for quiet, smooth and accurate autofocus operations which is ideal for pro-level video shooting. The lens has two focus models, M/A (autofocus with manual override) and M (manual focus). These focus modes provide complete lens control to the photographer and enables him/her to adjust focus for a variety of shooting situations. In addition to that, the element at the rear auto-adjusts during AF and performs pretty smoothly. The lens has 11 elements in 9 groups with 2 aspherical Nano coated lens elements and 7 rounded diaphragm blades that make its formation very compact and durable maximizing its adaptability of use. The NIKKOR 28mm is light-weight, approximately 330 g or 11.6 oz. The 7 rounded diaphragm blades of this lens stand responsible for rendering Bokeh or natural background blur to the out-of-focus portions of the image.

The NIKKOR 28mm Super Integrated Coating (SIC) provides enhanced transmission of light and consistent colors. The aspherical lens element reduces significantly coma and other lens aberrations. The FX-format lens iscapable of producing superb image quality, and is known for its attention to minute detail. It can produce very sharp clear images and is ideal for use with the new 36.3 Megapixel Nikon D 800 H D-SLR. Its large f/1.8 max aperture is a very handy feature that can generate natural background blur easily. The f/1.8 maximum aperture also enables it to capture images or shoot videos in low-intensity lighting situations and gives it a cutting edge advantage over others as they apparently almost completely fail in similar conditions.
Although its optical formula is optimized for use with Nikon FX-format DSLRs; it provides 42mm focal length equivalent DX-format D-SLRs. The 28mm f/1.8 G NIKKOR lens is supplied with a 67mm Snap-on front lens cap LC-67, Rear lens cap LF-4, Bayonet hood HB-64, and a lens pouch CL-0915.
It is available Now, 2012 for Suggested Retail Price (SRP) $ 699.95.
